Healing Ink Jerusalem: Ira

Healing Ink October 20, 2016

Ira (pronounced Yra) is a 35 years old married mother of three daughters. Her youngest was only 8 months old when Ira was injured. She was enlisted in the Technology & Maintenance Department of the IDF as a Major. While setting up cameras on the Syrian border to warn of incoming attacks, she stepped on a mine. Ira's right leg was amputated and the left leg was injured by shrapnel. She is still in the process of rehabilitation but is strong and proud: "I must keep alive for me and my family.”

Ira was tattooed during Healing Ink Jerusalem by artist Lady Wilson at the Jerusalem Museum of Art on October 20, 2016
